Blewbury Tennis Club is considering the installation of court lighting to enable the club to offer its members coaching and social tennis opportunities in the evenings in winter. It would also have the benefit of allowing the Wednesday afternoon junior coaching to take place at the courts – currently the club use Blewbury Village Hall for these sessions in the winter months.
At last year’s AGM we asked the attendees if there was support for this and received a very positive response. Since then we have been liaising with the Parish Council, who are supportive but are keen to establish a clear curfew when the lights would be turned off. We are also in the process of taking pre-planning advice from the VOWH District Council and their main concern is to minimise the impact on the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which appears to be achieved through the new LED lighting products.
The next step is to draw up detailed plans and formally apply for planning permission. Prior to this we wanted your views as members of the club. We attach a brief consultation paper outlining the plans and would welcome any comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also propose to consult the residents of Blewbury in advance, by placing a notice in the Blewbury Bulletin.
We look forward to receiving your comments.
